Hoke County Curfew Information

From Hoke County:

"Hoke County Officials have enacted a curfew for Hoke County citizens in the wake of Hurricane Florence. The curfew hours are from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am running until the State of Emergency is lifted.

The curfew is largely a directive to stay home unless absolutely necessary. People are urged to stay home, in a shelter, or other safe place during the massive storm and its aftermath.

In Hoke County, people won't be cited for violating the curfew. However, a person must have a legitimate purpose for being out past curfew hours.

Those exempt from the restrictions include those travelling to and from work, essential safety personnel such as law enforcement, firefighters, EMS personnel, medical personnel, military personnel, public utility employees and media personnel. Additionally, exempt persons include those that are obtaining or furnishing a service or commodity that is immediately necessary to sustain the health or wellbeing of themselves or someone in the curfew area.

The curfew is in place to protect the people and property of Hoke County. During an emergency event, having our citizens in a safe area allows us to concentrate our emergency resources on threats to infrastructure and responding to life threatening situations.

Hoke County Officials are urging residents to travel to the Hoke County Shelter at Don Steed Elementary School, 800 Philippi Church Rd, Raeford, ahead of the storm. Once the storm is underway, road conditions may be unpassable and we may not be able to reach you to transport you to a shelter.

Please visit ReadyHoke.org for more shelter information, or call the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 910-848-4646."
